ME/CFS and Long Covid

Launched in 2022 as a pro bono mandate in collaboration with the Swiss Society for ME & CFS, furrerhugi now also supports the patient organisations Long Covid Switzerland and ME/CFS Switzerland in their political advocacy to improve care for those affected.

At the core of the mandate is strategic public affairs consulting at both national and cantonal level. The objective is to raise awareness among policymakers and the general public of the concerns of those affected, in order to achieve tangible improvements in recognition, care and research.

A key milestone was the adoption of the motion calling for a national strategy to improve the health situation of people living with ME/CFS and Long Covid. The motion was finally approved by the Council of States in September 2025, just over a year after the joint roundtable organised by the patient organisations together with the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the Swiss Medical Association (FMH). With the adoption of the motion, the federal government is mandated to develop a comprehensive strategy in collaboration with experts, cantons and patient organisations. Switzerland is thereby the first European country to establish a national strategy for ME/CFS and Long Covid.
